In 1 Peter 2:4-10 Jesus is presented as a “stone” (or “rock”) – the idea being that we all need to build our lives upon a firm foundation, and Christ is presented as God’s choice for us to build our lives upon. But we have a choice as well: we can accept this “stone” offered to us and allow Him to become our “choice cornerstone;” or we can reject this “stone” offered us and watch Him become our “stumbling stone” of “offense.” One choice leads to peace and joy; while the other one leads to frustration and eventual “doom.” This message will help us all understand the choices before us and how to make the right choice – God’s choice.
